MontgomeryWorks offers a variety of job-search
tools and services at our two workforce centers. We feature
the Maryland Workforce Exchange,
an internet-based program with everything you need to find
a better job or advance your career-24 hours a day, seven
days a week. It's a virtual one-stop network that connects
you with workforce information, job leads, training opportunities,
and a variety of programs and services to help you make
the right choices for future success.

specialized resumes to apply for jobs online, learn about
careers that are in high demand, find occupational training
opportunities, and file for unemployment insurance.

Maryland Division of Workforce Development
offers a variety of core services at our local one-stop
workforce centers. The division provides tools, resources,
and computers and software for researching jobs and labor
market, finding opportunities for training and education,
and accessing the Maryland Workforce Exchange.
Dislocated Worker Program assists eligible
job seekers who have lost their jobs as a result of company
closings or layoffs. Contact MontgomeryWorks to find out
if you are eligible for job training and placement services
through this program.
Adult Program offers workforce services
to eligible unemployed or under-employed adults who are
seeking a new job or better skills. Participants can gain
occupational skills, increase their earnings, and improve
their rates of employment and retention.
MontgomeryWorks Rapid Response Team provides
assistance to job seekers affected by mass layoffs, plant
closings, disasters, and other events that cause job dislocation.
If you are unemployed due to a large layoff, ask our staff
if you are eligible for additional services.
Intensive Services Unit offers a variety
of case management and training services for eligible county
residents, including unemployed and dislocated workers and
displaced homemakers. Clients can obtain intensive, one-on-one
assessment and career counseling, as well as guidance on
occupational training that may upgrade your skills.
Re-entry Employment Services Program helps
ex-offenders overcome barriers to employment, earn incomes
that can support their families, and become contributors
to the economic and social well-being of their communities.
It provides one-on-one counseling, workshops, and assistance
in using employment resources for job seekers who have criminal
convictions or are incarcerated in Montgomery County's correctional
system.
Disability Program Navigator Initiative
increases the ability of one-stop career centers to serve
customers with disabilities. Disability "navigators"
work with one-stop staff, partners, and businesses to provide
accessible employment and training services.
Montgomery County Customized Employment Public
Intern Project for Jobseekers with Significant Disabilities
was created based on the County's knowledge that people
with significant disabilities often have difficulty accessing
County Government positions. As an employer, the County
recognizes that there are many job candidates who have much
to offer but have difficulty competing for traditional jobs.
To that end, the purpose of this initiative is to create
flexible work opportunities for individuals to fulfill the
work requirements of the employer. All County departments
will have the opportunity to work with a customized employment
consultant to identify and create part-time position descriptions
based on the department’s need – without impacting
the overall departmental budget. Individuals with significant
disabilities will be matched to work tasks based on their
interests, skills and competencies. The hope is that the
public interns will gain job experience and training to
be able to compete for merit positions here and at other
places of employment.

MontgomeryWorks' veterans' representatives
work with local employers to increase employment opportunities
for veterans. They conduct job search workshops and help
veterans obtain training and placement services and find
and retain jobs. They also work with state and federal partners
to provide the full range of job development services to
meet the specific needs of veterans-particularly those with

Maryland Veterans Employment Partnership
provides employment assistance to veterans who have significant

Senior Community Service Employment Program,
operated by the Jewish
Council for the Aging, provides services that can lead
to paid, on-the-job training in government and nonprofit
agencies for low-income persons age 55 and older. The training
offers skills, knowledge, and experience to help participants
make the transition to unsubsidized employment.

Our premier, industry-driven Sales and Service
Learning Center connects retail, service, and other
businesses to skilled and certified sales and service professionals.
Whether you're employed or in transition, the center offers
on-site customer service and sales training, career guidance,
connections to customer service job openings, and an internet-ready
computer learning lab. It even offers a customer service
/ ESOL program for non-native English speakers.
Located at the Westfield Shoppingtown in Wheaton, the center
will be the official testing site for the National Professional
Certification in Customer Service, a nationally recognized

Career Development Workshops serve the
many job seekers who need new skills for entering or re-entering
the workforce. These short-term career workshops provide
quality training in a variety of subjects, including resume
writing, successful interviewing, job search and career
planning, basic computer operation, word processing, and
internet searching. We also offer early intervention job
readiness workshops for unemployment insurance claimants
who want to return to work and an Online Learning
Center for developing or upgrading your computer
skills.
Individual Training Accounts enable MontgomeryWorks
to provide vouchers for eligible adult and dislocated workers
to purchase occupational skills training from providers
selected in consultation with their case managers. The training
focuses on high-demand industry sectors, such as information
technology, biotechnology, health care, construction, and
retail, sales, and service-as well as basic literacy and
