MontgomeryWorks partners with youth programs to provide educational and occupational skills that foster academic and employment success. Our programs encourage youth to achieve educational goals, obtain work experience, develop leadership skills, practice good citizenship, and provide community service. Summer Youth Jobs Program
Montgomery County’s Department of Economic Development has received funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) to expand a Summer Youth Jobs Program. If you are a young person between the ages of 14 – 24 and would like more information, please click here. If you are an employer looking to provide a work experience for a young person (at no cost to you), please click here.

Maryland Multicultural Youth Centers in Silver Spring offer the Youth Employment and Academic Readiness (YEAR) program, which provides training and job opportunities, job readiness training, and one-on-one career counseling. YEAR staff are bilingual and bicultural. For more information, contact the Maryland Multicultural Youth Centers at (301) 495-0441 ext. 226.

Job Corps offers an academic, vocational, and social skills training program for low-income youth-ages 16-24 who are motivated to learn the skills and work ethic they need to start and sustain their careers. Job Corps operates 119 primarily residential centers nationwide, including the Woodland Job Corps Center in Laurel, Maryland and Woodstock Job Corps Center in Woodstock, Maryland. Students receive living allowances, free health care, and other benefits by participating in the program. Ninety percent of Maryland Job Corps graduates get jobs or enroll in higher education. Youth with Disabilities Project is a partnership among MontgomeryWorks, TransCen, Inc., and Montgomery County Public Schools to provide new skills, work experience, and job opportunities to youth with disabilities in public schools. For more information, call MontgomeryWorks at (301) 946-1806.
